I am heading to Peru!

March 2025

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for your unwavering support and encouragement over the years. Each one of you has played a vital role in shaping who I am today. Currently, I’m finishing my junior year at Colorado State University working through my degree in Computer Engineering, and have also been pursuing a minor in Spanish, which I have just completed. Reflecting on all that God has done for me and how he’s changed my life is one of the most inspiring and encouraging things I get to think about. It can be really easy to forget the ways God has shown up in my life, and remembering them is the heart of my testimony and the heart of why so many things in my life look the way they do today.

As a whole, my testimony is characterized by God's incredible faithfulness to me. I was born into an incredible family with amazing parents and an awesome younger brother, and I have been going to church for as long as I can remember. I loved every bit of Sunday school, and then had even more fun going to youth group throughout all of my middle and high school years. I believed the gospel as soon as I was old enough to understand, and was baptized when I was 11. All throughout high school, my faith and love for Jesus painted a very beneficial picture of how my life should be lived which saved me from all of the usual traps that high school can bring. Even though my faith and conviction was strong then, it has since skyrocketed in college. I have found a great church in Fort Collins, and have found a life changing body of fellowship through campus ministry, pouring into me with weekly bible studies, meetings, classes, and discipleship that has continued to spur me on more and more to live for Jesus in all that I do.

With a lot of this fire for Christ has been a call to reach others around me, whether that be my close friends from high school, classmates, younger people in the ministry, the youth group at my church, and just anyone on my campus who will strike up a conversation. Experiencing all of these people through being discipled, discipling, leading small groups, leading bible studies, and being led in bible studies, has grown my heart for Jesus and the people around me and has got me thinking and praying about where God could best use my life, which is much of the reason behind this letter.

God has given me an exciting opportunity for this summer! On June 7, I depart for an eight-week missionary internship in Peru. I’ll spend the majority of my time in Pucallpa, a vibrant city in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. Pucallpa is the last reachable city by road before the start of the jungle, where many Indigenous communities are located. With over 310,000 residents, Pucallpa is a major jungle city that serves as a gateway to the Amazon as well as the hub for South America Mission’s operations within the country.

I discovered South America Mission (SAM) through one of the guys on staff with Oaks International at my school. He had done a variety of business missions in South America and that was something I was very interested in. We met up and talked about it and SAM was one of the organizations he mentioned to me that I should reach out to, so I did!

South America Mission is a non-profit, interdenominational mission organization that is committed to seeing the Church of Jesus Christ multiplied and communities transformed by embodying the Kingdom of God. SAM’s work in Peru includes church planting, leadership training, urban engagement, Indigenous engagement, education, and aviation. While in Peru, I will work alongside seasoned missionaries who commit to living as redeemed children of God, reproducing authentic disciples of Jesus, multiplying dynamic churches, training Godly leaders, and enabling transformational initiatives.

I’m excited to explore diverse ministries, including ESL, children’s ministry, youth ministry, sports outreach, ministry to the elderly, and evangelistic outreach programs. I am hoping to learn a wide variety of things, and my main goal is to dive into as many new and uncomfortable experiences as I possibly can. Within all of those ministries, I would just love to gain a picture of what the mission field can look like and see if God is calling me into one of those areas, as well as growing in my ability to communicate with people who live very different lives than me. I am also hoping to further improve my Spanish. One of the weeks entails a stay in a host home, and I’m incredibly excited to speak a ton and learn the culture and language better.

Together with SAM, we've outlined a budget for my internship. I need to raise $7100 by May 1 for international travel expenses, visa fees, living expenses, and ministry needs. Would you prayerfully consider joining my support team? The best way to do that is through prayer and donation. Below you can read specific ways to pray and how to give.

Every prayer and gift is an investment, not only in my life, but in the lives of countless people in Pucallpa and beyond.

In Christ,

Adam

Praises:

  • I praise God for this opportunity.

  • I praise God for the incredible community he has given me here at school that eventually led to a staff member recommending SAM to me and leading to this experience.

  • I praise God for my life, family and Hillside Community Church who raised me and poured the foundation for my life, supporting me every step of the way.

Prayers:

  • That I would grow immensely in my relationship with and reliance on the Lord.

  • That God would use me to glorify him during my time in Peru and always.

  • That God would clarify his calling for me for the rest of my life.
